The Nantel Verdict
The Nantel Verdict
Clips to drum rim or stand; real-time acoustic drum processing with reverb, compression, EQ; 200+ preset sounds; USB audio interface functionality; Bluetooth connectivity for app control; dual mic inputs for mixed stereo capture; motion sensor for dynamic parameter mapping.
Requires two AA batteries or USB power; benefits from quality clip placement and mic positioning to capture acoustic source accurately. Compatible with most standard drum stands. Firmware updates via Yamaha Connect app recommended. Pair with condensers for optimal studio recording.
The EAD50 justifies itself for drummers valuing acoustic feel with electronic flexibility. It processes rather than replaces, letting players keep their kit's character while accessing modern production capabilities and streamlined recording workflows.

What is EAD50?
EAD (Electronic Acoustic Drum) is Yamaha’s unique way of capturing your whole acoustic drum kit in stereo using one dedicated sensor unit.
EAD lets you easily shape and enhance your sound by blending the natural kit tone with effects and electronic sounds.
EAD50 is the newest model, taking the original EAD concept even further.
It captures the character and energy of your acoustic kit, then lets you smoothly mix in effects and electronic sounds and make changes in real time with an intuitive, hands-on workflow.
With improved sound quality, a more refined user experience, and a wider range of uses, EAD50 is a major step forward from EAD10 in every area.
Whether playing live, recording, practising, teaching, or streaming, EAD50 opens up new ways to perform and gives drummers even more creative freedom and control.
The Simplest Drum PA Solution Ever
Compared to a traditional drum mic setup with its multiple microphones, stands and lots of cabling, EAD50 makes it much easier to get a great stereo recording of your whole kit. You simply mount the sensor unit on the bass drum hoop and you’re ready to go.
Because you don’t need to place and soundcheck individual mics, setup is much quicker and easier.
On top of that, EAD50 includes a lot of the key drum functions you’d normally need extra gear for — like mixing, effects, and the ability to play backing tracks — all built into one unit.
So in many situations, you can handle a complete drum PA setup using just EAD50.
Overall, EAD50 is a simple, smart solution that removes many of the usual headaches drummers have had to deal with for years.
- Captures the entire drum kit with a single microphone.
- Drum-optimized capsules deliver authentic sound character.
- Trigger output lets you blend acoustic and electronic sounds
- Eight Outputs to Send Drum and Effect Channels Separately to PA
- Add external mics for more sonic depth.
- Tailor outputs for any venue or stream
- Balanced XLR outputs for clear, reliable live sound.
- Instant, accurate visual feedback with LED rotary faders.
Unleash the Drummer’ s Full Expression
Traditionally, shaping your drum sound has depended a lot on the PA system, which can make it hard for drummers to adjust things themselves and to be consistent. With EAD50, the idea is to put that control back in the drummer’s hands — a bit like how guitarists control their effects right at their feet.
The interface is designed to be quick and intuitive, so you can make simple sound changes even while you’re playing live. And if you want to go deeper, the EAD Touch app lets you edit and fine-tune settings from a smartphone, tablet, or Mac.
You can also connect pads or triggers to layer additional sounds, making it easy to build hybrid setups that combine acoustic and electronic elements.
- Shape your sound instantly with one touch.
- Wireless control and scene management from your phone
- Add depth and ambience with natural PCM sounds.
- Create your space with studio-level processing.
- Capture and reuse your own drum sounds.
- Flexible trigger inputs for modern hybrid drumming.
- Add more pads easily through USB connection.
Expand you’re Activities and Enjoyment
EAD50 isn’t just for live performance.
It works just as well for home practice, online lessons, studio recording, and creating content for social media.
Wherever you’re playing, and whatever the situation, EAD50 helps drummers do more and opens up more ways to play, record, and share their sound, without adding complication.
Practice/Online lesson
From everyday practice to online lessons, EAD50 covers a wide range of situations in one simple unit.
With Bluetooth, you can play along with music straight from a smartphone or tablet, and you can also use audio files saved on a USB memory stick or SD card.
For teaching and online lessons, the Talk function is really useful. It lets you switch between your drum sound and your voice using a foot switch, pad hit, or button push, so it’s easy to speak clearly to a student without stopping the lesson flow.
And if you’re making content, the Rec’n’Share app lets you record great-sounding video using just a smartphone or tablet.
- Play and control wirelessly with Bluetooth audio and MIDI.
- A fully customizable click for every practice need.
- Seamless one-touch switching between performance and speaking.
Recording/Social Media
With EAD50, you can get great drum recordings without a complicated setup.
If you connect it to a computer via USB, the EAD50 supports direct multitrack recording from the module, making it easy to capture clean, high-quality tracks.
And if you connect it to a smartphone or tablet, it works smoothly with the Rec’n’Share app, so you can quickly create and share great-sounding video content for social media.
- Easy, high-quality video creation with Rec’n’Share.
- Record all drum, trigger and track channels via USB.
- Turn EAD50 into a complete production setup with Cubase AI
Performance/Seminar
You can set up your sounds and effects in advance, then recall them instantly during a performance using buttons, pedals, or pads. That makes it easy to switch sounds from song to song (or through a whole setlist) without breaking the flow.
You can also play backing tracks from a USB memory stick or SD card, while sending the click only to the drummer. This also makes EAD50 great for solo performances, clinics, and seminars.
And with the built-in looper, you can record short phrases and layer sounds on the fly, which opens up even more creative possibilities.
- Recall full song setups instantly during live performances.
- Play backing tracks without a computer
- Create and layer phrases live.
